The St George & Sutherland Shire Leader records that the Cronulla Sewage Scheme opened in October 1956, the beginning of the end for the Shire's pan toilets. In older streets, sewer lines can be decades old, and the joints are where problems start.
Nearly a third of our Shire blocked-drain jobs since March mention tree roots or old terracotta and clay pipe. A camera inspection shows exactly where the problem is, so you can choose between a repair and a reline.

In April, a Kareela homeowner called us about a crack in their terracotta sewer line. Our camera ran 11 metres up and down from the shaft to find exactly where the damage was.
Instead of trenching the whole line, we made one small dig. We relined the damaged section from inside, fitted a landing patch, and reconnected the line with a new junction and an access point to make any future work easier.
It's a good example of what we see across the Shire: older terracotta sewers that can be fixed from inside, without digging up your yard.
